چکیده

In this paper, Bayesian finite element (FE) model updating is applied for uncertainty quantification in the multi-stage damage assessment of a seven-story reinforced building slice. The results of the Bayesian updating scheme are analyzed using a detailed uncertainty and resolution analysis which involves computing the posterior statistics and solving an eigenvalue problem. It is shown that the Bayesian approach and subsequent resolution analysis are effective and useful tools for uncertainty quantification in FE model updating. Keywords— Bayesian inference, uncertainty quantification, FE model updating, resolution analysis

Uncertainty Analysis of Damage Identification Results Based on Finite Element Model Updating Method

A full-scale seven-story reinforced concrete shear wall building structure was tested on the UCSD-NEES shake table in the period October 2005 January 2006. The shake table tests were designed so as to damage the building progressively through several historical seismic motions reproduced on the shake table. A sensitivitybased finite element (FE) model updating method was used to identify damage...

Damage-Based Probabilistic Seismic Assessment of RC Frames

A conceptual framework for the probabilistic performance-based seismic assessment of building structures that considers both model uncertainty and response sensitivity to ground motion modification is presented in this paper. A new damage model is proposed for the assessment of building performance to seismic loads. The model is derived at the material level and combined at the element, story a...

Damage Identification Study of a Seven- Story Full-scale Building Slice Tested on the Ucsd-nees Shake Table

A full-scale seven-story reinforced concrete building section was tested on the UCSDNEES shake table during the period October 2005 January 2006. The shake table tests were designed to damage the building progressively through four historical earthquake records. At various levels of damage, ambient vibration tests and low amplitude white noise base excitations with root-mean-square acceleration...

Probabilistic Identification of Simulated Damage on the Dowling Hall Footbridge through Bayesian FE Model Updating

This paper presents a probabilistic damage identification study on a full-scale structure, the Dowling Hall Footbridge, through a Bayesian finite element (FE) model updating. The footbridge is located at Tufts University and is equipped with a continuous monitoring system that measures its ambient acceleration response. A set of data is recorded once every hour or when triggered by large vibrat...

Uncertainty quantification in vibration-based damage assessment by means of model updating

The success of vibration-based damage identification procedures depends significantly on the accuracy and completeness of the available identified modal parameters. This paper investigates the level of confidence in the damage identification results as a function of uncertainty in the identified modal parameters through a probabilistic damage identification strategy, i.e., Bayesian finite eleme...
